In the spring of 2019, the chapter elected Addison Smith (current Vice President) to lead a driven and collaborative philanthropic initiative in our community. Under Addison’s leadership, the chapter started a can drive within the TCU community in order to collect canned food to be donated to the Tarrant County Food Bank. After a week of collecting cans from various members of the community, the chapter collected over 1,500 pounds of canned food for the Tarrant County Food Bank. The Food Bank was extremely appreciative of our donation noting it was one of the largest donations they had received so far that year.
Our new Philanthropy Chair, Zach Smith, will be continuing our initiative on the philanthropic front. COVID-19 has proved challenging for holding events of this nature, but plans are being put in place to still have an impact on our community the best we can through these challenging times.
